Week one E stablishing Professional Contacts and Expanding Resources

Susan Neal is assistant direct of ICSA   which is The International Community School of The International Community School of Abidjan this is located in the Gulf of Guinea

Wendy Dakpri lives in Nicaragua.  And is an advocate for an education center.

Steps I  took  to  contact people and first let me tell you  I almost  gave up and went with the alternative however the more  I thought about it the more I wanted to  be able to contact live people the more  I  keep pushing. I must have sent 25 emails some people were reluctant to  give me information even after telling them what I was trying to do, I got a few  people  emailed me  back however the letters were in other languages I could not understand or find people to translate them for me or several people   just did not respond. I  then posted a  help plea  on  my Facebook and  people were coming from everywhere advising me  to try this person or this until I  finally  meet  to wonderful ladies and I cannot tell you  how much I have already learned from both of these ladies and there different school training and culture differences.

The website  I  have joined  is  www.unicefusa.org/  this  is The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) which works in 190 countries to save and improve children's lives by providing health care, immunizations, clean water, nutrition, education and emergency relief. This  program fights for the survival and development of the world’s most vulnerable children and protects their basic human rights.

  1. Sandi, Great post! I am excited to hear about what your two women contacts have to say about their education system and culture. I also joined the same website as you after I read what the organization stands for and does. I am excited to work with you again for another class!

  2. Sandi I am so happy for you. I giggled a little because I could imagine my excitement to get a letter from another country and the disappointment/ frustration only finding out that I cannot read it. I am really excited to be with you also in class.

  3. Sandi, I am happy that you chose to work on UNICEF. Their efforts are tremendous and wonderful. I also chose to research them. I feel we can gain so much information through them.

  4. You are so lucky to have your contacts already! I have sent out many emails and continue to send more each day, with no luck-I either hear back that they are already working with someone else or the email is undeliverable. I am excited for you and can’t wait to hear more from your contacts. UNICEF is a great organization to join; they help so many people around the world.

  5. Sandi this is very interest how you took the time to keep going until you understood what the people was trying to tell you. This give me a drive to keep going until I can get in contact with someone.

  7. The UNICEF website is great! It is always hard to see what people in other parts of our world go through, but it is good that there are organizations like UNICEF to always be there and help.
