I went and was look thru the
different web links and newsletters when anther one caught my eye. http://www.nhsa.org/news_and_advocacy/advocacy/legislative_eupdate this leads me to
information about head start which we have been studying the last few weeks. Here you
can learn about recent news events that shape the future of Head Start the NHSA
is working on behalf of Head Start to host events and help with professional
development.
While searching this website I found
a page on child advocacy helping the children they really had a lot of
important information NHSA’S these are people that bring the voice of
the Head Start community to legislators in support of low-income children and
families and the Head Start staff who enrich their lives. They have a program
called dollar per child this is Advocate who join together to make sure funds are being properly received.
I did receive a newsletter and the first
article I read was long term benefits of head starts. Children who attend head
start will more likely to graduate high school, attend some college, and lead
healthy lifestyles.
I do not see anything on my original
web site this week that is related to what we have been studying. http://www.unicefusa.org/
I have gained a lot of knowledge especially
regarding head start. I did not know most the funding came from grants. I still
really think it’s sad that some children are being turned away cause their
parents make too much even though they still could be struggling. I really think
if it’s a public service every child should get an opportunity to go I
really also love the
work UNICEF is doing
yesterday a child
was shot down in a school in Pakistan this organization is making it a priority to make school have a safe
and protective environment.
I also thought it was interesting that the money came from grants I was not aware of this. I really do like Head Start, my only issue with them is that I thought the quality of their teachers were higher than it is. Great Job Posting
ReplyDeleteSandi, I too was enlightened to read about Head Start funding coming from grants. Also, we nee to get a hold of policymakers and let them be aware that those families that fall in the grey zone income, may still be struggling. Maybe we can start an initiative if we all voice our concerns to them because I agree that we all need some kind of help with childcare. thanks for you time and post.
ReplyDeleteI have always been interested in Head Start and heard great things about how they work. I have had friends that worked for them and really enjoyed the interactions with the families. I also did not know about the funding coming from grants! Thank you for sharing great information.
ReplyDeleteSandi I also think that it is sad that children was turn away I feel children that understand at an early age should be able to go to school. I did not know that the funding was from a grant I thought it was from what the parent paids.
